2009
Jesus, it’s been months since I updated this. A lot has happened. I got a new job as a Senior Editor at Country Living magazine, and it’s taken up a lot more time than I thought it would. Plus I had to adjust to office life after a two year hiatus. I don’t mind the working late part, it’s the getting up on time that is killing me. It’s a cool job though - I research antiques and fly to beautiful country homes and interview the families who live there.
I moved to a new apartment in Williamsburg, and I also broke up with my boyfriend. Sad, but that’s all I’m going to say about that here.
I found out yesterday that Mother Jones named Pill Head one of the best books of 2009, and I’ve been super happy ever since. I grew up with that magazine, it’s partly responsible for all of my lefty views, so to be honored by them means the world. I’m starting to see some different cover treatments for the PH paperback release this summer, and I’m excited about the direction Hyperion wants to go in. My resolution (just one of many) is to be better about posting here. So much has happened in pill news since the book came out, but I think part of me needed to step away from it for a bit. I was getting uncomfortable with my identity being wrapped up in the subject. But I’m ready again. It’s been a weird and wild decade, I’m happy to put it behind me and looking forward to learning from all the mistakes I made during it. Onward!
